Very nice :)

I think you could've added a small touch of side chaining here and there, though

RawGreen responds:

Thanks, and, I agree.

The automation changed drastically after I re-opened the file to work on it. I'm unable to get that intro sound to be the same as it is in this render.
So,... I'm just going to leave it as it is.. unless I can fix it somehow someday...

Meh

I like how it sounds, but it doesn't loop well and it doesn't have enough atmosphere. Try adding a slight chorus in the background

joeboss1423 responds:

Yeah, I though that too, I'll try to change it later

Awesome, but...

I think it needs more "pow"

If you could somehow fit in some light drums, then it would be great!

CleaverX responds:

I'll try and find a suitable placement for some and if I like the results I shall upload them, Thanks! :)

Pretty good

I'm not much of a MegaMan fan, but this is pretty good.
It seems to be lacking in tone, though. A little bit too "8-bit" , per say.
Other than that, good work.

Mind I ask what keycenter this is in?

GenoWhirled responds:

No idea, unfortunately. Everything I do is by ear.

Pretty good for one of your first musical attempts

I say remake it.
And the melody isn't that off, don't worry. In fact, I don't even think it's off at all.
Seems very Megaman-like.
And if you DO remake it, add more background ambient noises, it seems a bit hollow, if you know what I mean.

Shoephly responds:

Yea, was thinking about making a remake, it has potential.
And yes, I do know what you mean, I didn't really have any pads or strings in the background except for the stuttered pad which is playing throughout the song.

Thanks for the review. ^^

Great!

Sounds like something to listen to when driving at night in the rain.

haywirehaywire responds:

hah thanks man.

Love it

Love your use of ambience with trance. You truly are great with multiple genres.
I don't know why you think the fade out at the end was a bad thing, i personally thought it went well with the music.
I know I'm repeating myself but I LOOOVE the trancy-ambient parts.
Did you use some synth keyboard with a lot of delay/reverb about two thirds through the song?
Oh and the background fills after 4:18 until the end... love them. Mind I ask what instruments/presets you used?
5/5, 10/10, and DL'd

Music-story responds:

Well, telling you what presets I used won't help much. When I use a preset instrument, I make numerous changes to it that you won't be able to recognize which preset I used if you had my music program, logic pro 8. As for plugins there are few presets used, but your program is different from mine so that won't help you either.

About the fade out. I like the fade out, but I think it cuts off awkwardly at the very end of the song. I should make the fade out more gradual....too lazy to fix though.

Not sure which instrument your referring to when you say 2/3 through the song. However, I didn't using any synth keyboard. I have a pretty basic keyboard and I'm too poor to buy a good one.

Thanks for the support and i'll check out one of your latest.

Bye for now

Awesome, as usual

I always enjoy a good, in-your-face, original trance song. Like this. lol.
I truly envy your skillz.
I really like the heavyness that comes in at 3:25
I also like how the song is one long, drawn out climactic build-up. (Lol remember System Override?) Usually songs of that variety don't end up so well, but then again there are exceptions like this.
Hope to see some more awesome stuff from you.

P.S. any tips for a beginner like me? Like for example: "use this, avoid this, etc."

Music-story responds:

Hi SuperKM,

I'm no where near professional status so what I say to you is truly in a humbling way.

First, everytime you make a song, make sure you learn from your mistakes. Sometimes I notice some artists on NG do not take their reviews seriously. For whatever the reason, they don't take in the valuable info. The result is a stagnant musician.

Second, make high standards for yourself. If a song is too easy for you to make than the chances are it probably is a song that is lacking. (There are exceptions where you get all this inspiration for a song, but that rarely happens and should not be relied upon) Whenever I make a song, it never does become one song. For example, this song did not just pop out first thing in my head. I have like 6-7 versions of this very song which were just not good enough for me. Its a frustrating process but eventually you find what works best for you.

Thirdly, you can listen to other artists who are better than you. Preferably professionals. They come up with the most creative ideas if you listen carefully. For example, numerous people on NG use filter modulations, but have you tried sustain modulations before? NG seems to be loving the filter automations so this is your time to be a little different from the rest.

Like everything else, it all comes down to whoever puts in the most work. You work hard on your song and trust me, eventually every song you make you will see a major improvement.

Thanks for the review.

P.S.I'm working on two songs at the moment and one of them may bring back old memories.....the style I used when I first started making music. You should know what that is like.

OMFG

This was the best song I ever heard in a while! You're really good at making music! And you say you just randomly made this song? Wow, this is a masterpiece. If it weren't for that game this was in, I would have never found out about this song! Don't delete it, it's good!

Music-story responds:

I'm much better now I think....well I should be considering this song was made almost 1 year ago. I'm in the middle of making a club mix. Maybe I'll list it as a MS Rave 3 since a few ravey parts. That is if I post it on NG. Might at very low quality...hmm not sure.
